Showcasing the finest of Australia’s beach volleyball, VolleyFest is an annual volleyball festival that has garnered a reputation for its coastal atmosphere, scenic surroundings, and its vast forms of entertainment, alongside its primary attraction of international beach volleyball.
While attracting audiences of all ages, this yearly competition has effectively piqued the curiosity of those who have been interested in volleyball and leisurely activities alike, and as the event is located in the heart of Manly, NSW, attendees may relax and rejuvenate themselves in the midst of the many restaurants and hotels situated nearby.

History

Initially recognized as a local and a national competition, Volleyfest has acquired international acknowledgment and fame with the passing of time. Presently, it is regarded as a premier event, with its importance having been heightened by its inclusion into the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) Beach Volleyball World Tour. Simultaneously, the existence of this festival has succeeded in supporting Australian and International athletes alike, as multiple individuals have acquired access to worldwide events, including the Rio Olympic Games.

In 2017, Volleyfest featured:

The Australian Beach Volleyball Tour Round 01, which was a multi-division event that was open to different levels of participants.
The NSW Beach Volleyball Schools Cup, which was an event in which schools would compete against one another to determine the reigning champion team of volleyball.
The FIVB World Tour 2 Star Event, in which both men and women competed to win the world tour and be in possession of one of the highest honours in international beach volleyball.

Schedule:

Typically held in either November or March for a total of ten consecutive days, Volleyfest is renowned for hosting competitions such as the Australian Beach Volleyball Tour – NSW Open, the NSW Beach Volleyball Schools Cup, and the FIVB World Tour 2 Star Event. Presently, the 2018 Volleyfest schedule has yet to be announced, but it is increasingly likely that the festival will be held in the month of November.
It is worth noting that while most of the events are free, one is required to purchase tickets for the FIVB World Tour Events.

Past Winners:

In 2017, the sell-out audience present on the 25th of November, bore witness to the Canadian beach volleyball duo of Ben Saxton and Grant O’Gorman securing the gold medal. Having emerged victorious against France in two quick sets, the individuals reflected upon their previous win against the American team, and expressed their delight at having become the gold medalists of the men’s FIVB World Tour Beach Volleyball tournament.

On the other hand, on the 26th of November, Australia’s beach volleyball duo of Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar, faced China for the final match of the women’s FIVB World Tour Beach Volleyball tournament.

After the completion of a close two sets, the individuals emerged victorious, and in the aftermath of the exciting game, the President and Patron of Volleyball, Craig Carracher and Mrs. Gina Rinehart respectively, presented the Hancock Prospecting Perpetual Trophy to the gold medalists.
